Although she was involved in many musical theater performances as well
as sung in the concert choir, it was winning an amateur singing contest
at Howard University in 1988 that lead her straight to the Apollo
Theater in New York City where she performed on It's Showtime at the
Apollo.
Harlem
turned out to be the place where she discovered jazz and started to
swing. She added Birdland and Londels Superclub to her list of jazz
joints where she was able to make a
big
impression on high society in Manhattan. She spent 5 years singing with
an orchestra to New York's rich and famous high society in Manhattan,
and was named by her fans Coco because her voice is smooth like
chocolate.
Coco's career
is on fire! Having recently returned from her first European Tour in the
South of France, Coco has just signed a record deal with Devine
Inspiration Records in New York City. She is now ready and excited about
getting into the studio to record her very first album entitled, “After
Midnight”. The title song was co-written by the
Soulful-Swinging-Songstress. Coco has made an introduction to the New
York Jazz scene with The Coco Rouzier Quartet. The assemble features Tim
Bayless on piano, Noel Paris on drums, and Yoshi Waki on Bass. The
foursome have performed at Birdland in Midtown, 17 Main Jazz club in
Westchester, Londel’s Supper Club in Harlem, the legendary Bohemian
Caverns in Washington, DC where Billie, Ella, and even the Duke himself
performed over 60 years ago. Their loyal fans are growing by the number.
Maybe you'll become one too !
